On a continent far away from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Orre, lies an odd land shrouded in ceaseless storms. Usually referred to as the "Outer Continent", this particular region contains two nomadic nations: the desert, Kyr'n, and the swamp, Fl'mn. Each half slowly rotates, due to the duo of legendary Pokemon who are inable to decide which half is whose.

At the heart of this are the two "ascended" Pokémon: the reptilian artist, Weathist, and the weather wyvern, Weathor. Each, while visibly merely a slightly larger version of their pseudo-legendary species, has adjusted the weather patterns immensely, shrouding the North with a constant tempest, while the Southern portion is parched. As this does not normally allow most Pokémon or humans to survive, there are very few travellers to these regions. However, due to an immense magical field surrounding the area, most of the denizens of the Outer Continent are merely mutated versions of their counterparts.

As a result, every single Pokemon species there has a counterpart, usually fairly similar in appearance and behavior.

The Northern sections are populated primarily with aquatic species, usually with draconian features added over time. Fire types are severely weakened while they inhabit the area, usually with a considerably lower survival rate than everything else found. Oddly enough, the favored starter's prior form was that of a Charmander before being subjected to the effects of the continent.

A balanced team in the area relies less on the types of the actual Pokémon and more of what classes they have taken. As the continent has a high magical field, it is quite common for any denizen of the land to have aquired skills beyond the natural ones. As an inconvenient side effect, however, Technical Machines, a commodity in much of the world, are useless, due to the heavy technological aspect of them in general.

Foreign Pokéballs are much less effective than the native sort, as the combination of magical and technology rarely ends well. Unfortunately for the Pokémon contained, Hoenn's Pokéballs are almost certainly going to explode upon entry into the huge magical field, while Johto's Apricorn balls will usually last at least a year before breaking. As a result, there are very few foreign Pokémon in the area.

The original purpose for Sundry/Lunarain was to have more uses for abilities like Swift Swim, Chlorophyll, and Sand Veil. While many Pokémon have these abilities, they've always struck me as almost useless, unless paired with Kyogre, Groudon, or Tyranitar, as the effects wear off too easily. After the Diamond/Pearl Japanese release, however, there has been absolutely no point in maintaining it as that and it was not a particularly brilliant idea in the first place.

However, it has slowly evolved into a Pokémon / Final Fantasy crossover project. Originally, as a sort of "unique" Final Fantasy touch to Randomosity, there was an Anymage Style Battling project in the forums. Unfortunately, it crashed and burned. Even so, the general idea has survived and is now part of SD/LR, even if only in theory.

Randomosity requires stylesheet support. If you find any errors, contact surskitty.
